Endings
1000xRESIST has a fake-out "ending" at the end of Chapter 5. After you zip to the node above the altar, the game goes black and sends you to its start-up sequence (with bloody versions of the developer and publisher logos). When the main menu shows up, press "Start" to continue the game.
The actual end of 1000xRESIST takes place in Chapter X.
Watcher. There's no turning back from this.
WARNING! This page contains Spoilers for Chapter 10 and the ending of the game!
Chapter X features several endings depending on Blue's choices in the final moments of the mass communion.
Mechanics[edit | edit source]
After the mass communion, Blue emerges in an enclosed, circular, flooded area with scattered street lights. Under many of the lights are people representing different factions and their ideologies. Secretary asks Blue to decide their fates – what to "carry" forward into the future, and what to leave behind.
↑(might move this to Chapter X page instead? --Mynn (talk) 20:07, 17 November 2024 (UTC))
As Blue, you are presented with the choice to keep each faction's lights on or off, representing their continuation into the future, or their end. Turning off/on the lights is not final, until you return to Secretary and confirm your decision. Before you confirm, they will give you a chance to re-evaluate your choices, in case you change your mind.
Not all of the choices affect what ending is achieved; the choices which affect the ending are determined in a hierarchy of precedence. [1] This is done through a series of checks:
- If Mauve is on: go to Her Name Is Not Mauve – otherwise:
- If the Red Guard are on: go to The Law – otherwise:
- If the Sisters are off: go to Lights Out – otherwise:
- If the Jiaos are off: go to Justice for Jiao – otherwise:
- If Principal is on: go to Epitaphs (Red) – otherwise:
- If Principal is off and any* other light is on: go to Epitaphs (Blue) – otherwise:
- If every* light is off: go to Scorched Earth
[* Note: whether the Parents' light is on or off has no effect on what ending you get]
Only the Epitaphs (Red) and Epitaphs (Blue) endings will roll the game credits afterwards, and are thus considered "true endings". Other endings will send you back to the lights to make your choice again.

Possible Endings[edit | edit source]
After your decision is made, the game advances to one of 7 endings. In some endings, a cutscene plays: the now-merged Secretary reaching their hand down from the sky to catch the falling Blue, Healer, and Fixer before they hit the ground. The epilogue then fades in.
Scorched Earth[edit | edit source]
If ALL lights are turned off, there is a montage of corpses strewn all throughout the Orchard – Red Guards, Jiao Prime and Principal, Mauve, BBF. The corpses of Fixer and Healer lay in front of Blue, who sits alone, under the tree in the Orchard's alcove in the same lonely way that Youngest once did.
SECRETARY: You have chosen a future...without any sisters. You have decided to end it all. Are you certain?
BLUE: I am certain... We were a mistake, Secretary. All of this suffering, these cycles of violence, sisters oppressing sisters... This pain can be forgotten. This regret can be forgotten... A reset. The world will be better off without us.
SECRETARY: ... This is your decision?
BLUE: It is. End it now. End it once and for all.
SECRETARY: If that is your wish... After everything... Then so be it.
BLUE: Thank you, Secretary.
SECRETARY: Farewell, Blue. Let this thread be cut.
Her Name Is Not Mauve[edit | edit source]
If Mauve's light is left on, Mauve bludgeons Blue with the butt of her gun, knocking Blue to the ground. There, Blue sees two Red Guards (who accompany Mauve) execute Fixer and then Healer. After that, one executes Blue.
If NO lights are turned off (thus, Mauve's light is ON):
SECRETARY: You have chosen a future...without intervention. Everything stays. Are you certain?
BLUE: I am certain... I can't...I can't be the one to decide. We need to let it play out amongst us. Now that everyone has seen Iris' memories...I want to give them a chance.
SECRETARY: And the sacrifices to get to this place? All that you have seen of these sisters? You will ignore this?
BLUE: I want to have faith. Allow my sisters to decide freely, each to their own.
SECRETARY: A truly bloodless decision. If that is your wish... After everything... Then so be it. [ ... ]
SECRETARY: Let this thread be wild.
If Mauve's light is ON, but the Red Guard is OFF:
SECRETARY: ...are you certain?
BLUE: ...
SECRETARY: Mauve is dangerous. You're sure? Will she listen to you?
BLUE: Her fight is with the sisters from before. We are on the same side.
SECRETARY: What about Bartender?
BLUE: She clinged to the old ways too... After all this... I see that now. Mauve is right. The Provisional Government was a half-measure. We never started anew.
SECRETARY: Do not forget that Mauve is also a sister from before.
BLUE: Secretary. This is my choice. Do as I say.
SECRETARY: If that is your wish... Then so be it. Farewell, Blue. Let this thread be clean.
The Law[edit | edit source]
If the Red Guard are left on, but Mauve is turned off, the Red Guard are shown to execute the Healer, Fixer, and Blue via firing squad.
SECRETARY: The Red Guard have many factions within. They will be difficult to control. You're sure?
BLUE: I'm sure. I don't ever want to feel powerless again.
SECRETARY: You seek to wield power?
BLUE: If you're leaving, I have no other choice. Some things can only be gained through force.
SECRETARY: Playing with fire...If that is your wish... Then so be it. [ ... ]
SECRETARY: Let this thread be strong.
Lights Out[edit | edit source]
If the Sisters are turned off along with Mauve and the Red Guard, there is a de-saturated montage of various dead and dying shells throughout the Orchard. The dying slowly collapse one by one, and the dead are laid out in a supine position. The montage ends in the courtyard, with 8 dead shells laid out in a circle, akin to a clock-face. Then the background goes black, leaving only the corpses, which flicker out.
SECRETARY: You desire to forget the surface.
BLUE: We never asked to be born. If we must live... We should make a life worth living. Does it matter if it will all end one day? If those who have lived, know safety and warmth?
SECRETARY: If that is your wish... Then so be it. [ ... ]
SECRETARY: Let this thread go quietly.
Justice for Jiao[edit | edit source]
If Mauve, the Red Guard, and the Jiaos are turned off, the epilogue opens in a de-saturated view of the Orchard. Then we see memorial "remains" for the Jiaos.
SECRETARY: You will eradicate the Jiaos?
BLUE: They'll never be able to forgive us completely... After what Iris did? And the Provisional Government? We'll end up killing each other.
SECRETARY: You will let Cherry's sacrifice be in vain?
BLUE: I'm...afraid so.
SECRETARY: If that is your wish... Then so be it.
BLUE: Secretary...
SECRETARY: Farewell, Blue. Let this thread prevail.
An older, future Blue narrates their epitaphs:
Memorial | Epitaph |
---|---|
Candy-Jiao | REMAINS: Candy... A leader. An educator. A believer. A sister with a spine. Remember a Jiao who never met justice. |
Cherry-Jiao | REMAINS: Cherry... A dreamer. A host. A martyr. A sister who would offer her hand for comfort. Remember a Jiao who never met justice. |
Toffee-Jiao | REMAINS: Toffee... A historian. A student. A companion. A sister with an affinity for the spooky. Remember a Jiao who never met justice. |
Jiao | REMAINS: ... A daughter. A friend. A lover. A youth on the surface with an insatiable appetite. Remember a Jiao who never met justice. No one is beyond forgiveness... No one is beyond forgiveness....... No one is beyond forgiveness... |
Epitaphs (Blue) and Epitaphs (Red)[edit | edit source]
If Mauve and the Red Guard's lights are OFF, and The Jiaos and sisters lights are ON, the story proceeds to 1 of the 2 "true" endings (which will roll credits afterwards).

Whether the Epitaphs are (Blue) or (Red) is dependent on if Principal's light is left ON or OFF.
If Principal is OFF, it is Epitaphs (Blue).
SECRETARY: The Ancient Sister's sin will finally be eradicated. She has hid all her life. She can finally rest in oblivion. Maybe some people are truly beyond forgiveness.
BLUE: She needs to go. Otherwise, certain sisters will rally behind her again. She had her chance to do what was right, much longer than the rest of us. She chose to hold tightly. [...]
SECRETARY: Let this thread be unburdened.
If Principal is ON, it is Epitaphs (Red).
SECRETARY: You will forgive Principal? After everything she's done? ...Sisters may rally to old power.
BLUE: Secretary, she's been running for so long. Afraid of Iris...afraid of us... A single moment defined her whole life... She deserves a chance at forgiveness. We all do. [...]
SECRETARY: Let this thread know true grace.
Both Epitaphs put the player in control of an unnamed Jiao, visiting the Orchard with either Blue or Principal. In the Orchard are "remains" – memorials to Iris and various clones. The memorials are written by whoever accompanies the Unnamed Jiao, and thus differ between the Blue/Red routes. The routes play out mostly the same, with slightly differing reactions from the Jiao, as well as different conversations with Blue or Principal.
When a character's epitaph is read, a translucent ghost/hologram figure of them will appear throughout the Orchard. Some of the figures are simply standing by; some appear to be on the move; some look to be interacting with other figures, whether in a way symbolic of their relationship, or as a frozen "snapshot" of possible past interactions.
Memorial | Epitaphs (Blue) | Epitaphs (Red) |

|
Watcher | REMAINS: Remember a guilty, matricidal Watcher, who lost faith and an eye. She could have been a nobody. She was ancient by the end. For you, something fresh.

|
REMAINS: Here lies a stoic Knower who listened smartly to every story she was told, and committed her life to architecture. You were my trusted and burdened. You are safe to be soft now. Hekki grace.
|
Principal (Blue)
|
REMAINS: Remember a lying and leading Principal, who tried to be a better mother than her own. She chose not to regret her damage. She chose to be in pain. For you, something merciful.
